Talent Pathway Trials 2016 / 2017

To join the Competitive Swimming Programme, potential members must attend a trial in order to assess their level of skill and physical fitness. We welcome applications from swimmers aged 7 – 17 years, if successful; swimmers will be offered a place in one of the Talent Pathway Squads displayed below:

Junior Squad (7-10 years)

Intermediate Squad (11-14 years)

Youth Squad (15 years and above)

Please note, a swimmers age is considered to be their age at the 31st December.

Trials consist of a series of land based exercises, pool based skills and tests of aerobic fitness. Swimmers trialling for Intermediate and Youth Squads will be required to demonstrate a superior range of skills and higher levels of fitness.

All sessions are delivered by fully qualified coaches who provide a progressive training programme to develop physical, technical and tactical skills.

A swimmers age will be considered to be the age at which they are eligible to compete at the next Summer National Championships. This is based on year of birth, for example a swimmer born in 2006 will be considered as a 10 year old until August 2016 when the Summer National Championships have been completed.

All swimmers, parents or guardians will be required to sign a training agreement form at the time of joining the competitive swimming programme; this contains a code of conduct for members and expected behaviours in line with the CORE values of the programme.

Moves along the Talent Pathway will take place in September each year, opportunities to move into the Performance Pathway will take place every three months for Junior Squad and every six months for Intermediate and Youth Squads.
