Success at City of Sunderland Long Course National Qualifier Meet


HDSC swimmers had another successful weekend of racing at the City of Sunderland Long Course National Qualifier Meet.

Gabriel Shepherd took 5 gold medals, winning the 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, 50m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 200m IM

Jessica Reilly won the 200m backstroke and 400m IM.  She also collected silver in the 100m backstroke.

Anna Marley won 3 silver medals in the 200m backstroke, 200m IM and 400m IM and a bronze in the 100m backstroke.

Sean Smith had a busy weekend making 9 finals and taking a gold in the 50m backstroke, silver in the 200m IM and 2 bronze medals in the 50m fly and 200m breastroke.

Yorkshire Age Group champion Imogen Vollans took a silver medal in the womens 50m backstroke against a strong open age field.

13 year old Tanthai Bennett made 4 finals finishing 4th in the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle.  He was also placed 6th in the 100m backstroke and 10th in the 100m freestyle.

Other finalists were Jennifer Law coming 7th in 50m breaststroke and 9th in 100m breaststroke;  Louisa Ibberson 4th in 50m freestyle;  Rohan Smith 7th in 100m breaststroke;  Joseph Moore 4th in 50m breaststroke, 5th in 100m breaststroke and 9th in 200m breaststroke;  Thomas Myles 10th in 100m freestyle;  Emma Moore 8th in 400m IM and Stephanie Wellings 8th in 200m breaststroke.
